To nurture young talents to develop in the booming microelectronics industry, Simbury was invited by Hong Kong Science Park Corporation (HKSTP) to deliver insights and overview of microelectronics ecosystem in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area in their GBA InnoAcademy Master Class.
Dr. Meikei Ieong, Chairman of Simbury Limited shared the journey and new opportunities of microelectronics chips to undergraduate students and young talents on 14 March 2023. “Hong Kong has clear advantages in microelectronics with number of world class experts in chip design, electronic design automation, advancing packaging and silicon photonics,” he continued, “The HKSAR government earmarks billions to drive innovation and technology industry, starting with microelectronics institute to provide advanced production facilities for relevant industries, we believe this can greatly embrace the opportunities of local microelectronics industry.”
In the 2023-24 Budget, the HKSAR government has announced to establish a Microelectronics Research and Development Institute to enhance collaboration among universities, R&D centres and the industry, expediting “1 to N” transformation.
