GSMA, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and Deutsche Telekom have launched the 5G IN Digital Ecosystem Innovation Centre to unleash the next chapter of 5G innovation. Simbury is glad to exchange insights on nurturing new opportunities in 5G Era and metaverse with leaders from the digital ecosystem in the launch event on 29 July 2022, Friday.
Sihan Bo Chen, Head of Greater China, GSMA; Albert Wong, Chief Executive Officer and Peter Mok, Head of Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation; and Sean Seaton, SVP, Group Partnering & Devices, Deutsche Telekom addressed the launch and shared the evolution on 5G to drive economic growth, business innovation and growth opportunities across industries.
Fast streaming technology and low latency are critical elements to achieve a truly immersive metaverse. 5G should be able to offer this bandwidth, with average download speeds in the hundreds of megabits per second range and average latency in single-digit milliseconds. On the other hand, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are dependent on powerful computation for high resolution video stream and it relies on silicon chipsets with low latency, power-efficient framework to reach sophisticated level of immersive experience.
Simbury is one of the leading metaverse silicon chipset solution provider, with 3D foveated rending chipset applies deep learning algorithm providing zero-delay processing ultra-high resolution (4K x 2K per eye) for VR. As part of the metaverse ecosystem, Simbury is actively evolving the partnership collaboration with stakeholders in the metaverse community.
Dr. Meikei Ieong, Chairman, Simbury Limited, exchanged ideas on how 5G and metaverse technologies can be used to create more innovation and new businesses with distinguished panel speakers including Dr. Lucas Hui, Chief Technology Officer, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute; Damien Leong, Deputy Chief Technology Officer, Hutchison; Dr. Chung Ng, Group SVP Technology Strategy and Development, HKT; and Aldous Ng, Chief Executive Officer, CU Coding Limited.
Dr. Meikei Ieong said, “5G was born in the cloud era and boosts a more stable, rapid Internet connection and data usage from mobile device to IoT ecosystem, which marks the evolution of next generation products. Leveraging on Simbury’s wealth of expertise and international project experience, we are dedicated to address the technical challenges being faced by the industry and provide solutions with the innovative adoption of AI and metaverse applications.”
